• British Telecom Test Kit BT77H2 (getting lent to us in a few days)
• Crowbar (1m x 17mm, with prise tiip)
• Graham Electronics RJ45 - Ring/Tip/Ground adapter
• Graham Electronics SJ45 - STSP 10/6E adapter
• British Telecom Dialtone Verifier S361
• Greenbox key (old triangular style)
• Payphone deposit box key (£_£!!!!) (slightly worn)

phone phreaking for dummies:

• Get a normal phone. Any phone with a UK RJ45 adapter will do.
• Get to know a BT/NTL/Telewest/OneTel guy or their friends/relatives well and when theyre not looking nip into their shed/car and nick some of their phone stuff. The above list is good, you can tell the RJ45 adapter cos it has a 6-pin telephone socket and three wires with crocodile clips on 'em. Also get the STSP adapter, you wont be able to phreak without this. (has a flat plug with four metal contacts on it)
• Use a crowbar, chisel , or something metal, long, hard and sharp (stfu) and prise the greenbox open (unless you have the keys like we do ;) ). Failing that, bash the fuck out of it, and when you see a corner poking in (or out) rip the door off.
• 
• Plug the stsp adapter into any of the slots that the Telephone Wires lead to, plug in ya test phone and dial away!
• Note- on some older boxes they have a free socket wired up and ready to use (see below)

24 February 2004 - a great day in Unity's (short) history...

Well... we managed to phreak our first phone line! We're talking a late 70s CAB box, normal triangular bolts, and those prats at BT decided to leave a testing socket in there. We were just going home, when salty pointed out a box on the corner of two roads. We decided to take a look, not expecting much. Then, he pointed out a socket in the top right hand corner of the box. We doubted it would work... until we plugged the test phone in. We... had... a... dialing... tone! We didnt think this was much, just a dud or 0800 line, until we tapped Muke's number into the phone. It dialled! Muke just stood there, looking like he'd seen a ghost... and then people started looking out of windows and it was then we decided to leave before the old bill turned up. Here are some pics of us at work.
